That's why Billie Joe rocks a vintage Junior and why you'll love the Gibson Billie Joe Armstrong Signature Les Paul Junior electric guitar. Billie Joe's signature model is a modern re-creation of the vintage Juniors he plays on stage. While the Junior may have started life as a budget model, it has proven it has the muscle to deliver the powerful sounds needed for modern music. The flat-top, single-cutaway mahogany body and single dog-ear, double-coil P-90 pickup combination is unbeatable for punchy, defined-yet-dirty tone. The mahogany neck with rosewood fretboard (ebony on classic white model) and '1960 slim-taper neck profile is comfy and gives you something solid to hold on to. It also has a wraparound compensated bridge, nickel tuners, and volume and tone controls.
Since emerging from the close-knit punk scene of California's East Bay in the early 1990s, Green Day have evolved into one of the most popular and creatively ambitious rock 'n' roll bands of all time. Frontman Billie Joe Armstrong—drawing on the buzz-saw guitar of the Ramones and Hüsker Dü, and the raw poetics of the Replacements' Paul Westerberg—has evolved over the years into a fiercely distinctive guitarist and songwriter. Combining melodic chord voicing with a blistering, jackhammer rhythm, Armstrong's playing deftly underscores the mood and theme of his songs. Buoyed by one of rock's truly great rhythm sections—bassist Mike Dirnt and drummer Tré Cool—Armstrong has proven just how much can be accomplished with one guitar, bass, and drums. From the 1994 breakthrough hit "Longview" to the staggering Who-like sprawl of 2004's amazing American Idiot, Green Day have honored the traditions of their influences while taking stripped-down rock 'n' roll to dizzying creative heights. |

Well I was very skeptical about this guitar. I am not a fan of the signature models, usually over priced and sub standard in quality. But I was blown away but this one. I've been playing for 8 years, and I was planning to use this baby on stage. But once I recieved the guitar, I was floored by the finish. It's gorgeous (I got the tv sunburst). I finally got to plug it in and I was shocked at the raw growl and power you get from the H-90. I was concerned about the hum and buzz I usually get with P-90s, but this one truly is hum cancelling (unlike the 100s that claim and dont deliver). And your not loosing too much tone either. Very happy with that. I am playing out of a JCM 2000 through a 4X12. Sounds amazing blasted loud with gain at 4-5 and presence closer to 6. The volume and tone knobs on this thing give it so much versatility. This is by far my new fav guitar. I also play a early 90's Les Paul Classic, 97 US Fender FAT Strat, Epiphone SG, and BC Rich Warlock. Out of the gang, the Billie Joe Jr. is my new fav. But please try it out before buying. I went to a store and tried the black one. I hated the finish on that one. Looked cheap to me. And the sound on the one I used was mediocre. I got mine used off a friend and had a chance to try it out. Good Luck!!!

Lets be honest here, this is a Les Paul Jr. This means one pickup (double stacked HP-90....LOUD) and 2 controls (VERY RESPNNSIVE). So if you are looking for that classic Gibson LP Tone, move on! This is a very bare bones basic guitar. This does not mean that the sound is poor, far from it. It delivers a classic meaty rock & roll tone without depriving the guitar of its natural tone that comes from a solid mahogany body with a thick, thick lacour finish. When compated to other Jr's it is comsiderably less in cost which makes it a bargain. This guitar is essentially a classic '57 Jr. in every shape and form. If you are a player who demands a high quality guitar, steller performance, outstanding tone, amazing playability, then purchase this. No, Billie Joe does NOT play this axe, he is playing authentic vintage Jr.'s which cost thousands more, but I doubt a artist such as himself would put his name on a product that does not live up to our or his expectataions.
Kind of a waste of money

I actually encountered one of these the other day and to be honest I liked the guitar. It was simple, stayed in tune well enough, and didn't sound bad. The key feature for me was the neck- it's nice and thin, which I prefer. However, when I headed to the Music store look into one, I noticed the price tag. I was expecting maybe $600 tops. Anyway, I ended up not buying one. One pickup, two controls and a hard tail is all you get for $. I paid less for my Jackson RR1 USA model. I know most people will buy this just 'cause Billie Joe Armstrong's name is on it, and all I can say is that it's not worth the hefty price.
