Precursor to the Telecaster, the short-lived Broadcaster was in release for less than a year. A name change was prompted by a copyright issue with the name "Broadcaster" being concurrently used for a line of Gretsch drums. During the name confusion, for a short period in the transition from this model to the Telecaster, the headstock decal was "clipped", removing the "Broadcaster" name; these no name transition models are commonly referred to as "No-Casters."
