The EB0 bass was Gibson's main, top selling bass of the 1960's and 1970's. The initial body shape was very reminiscent of the Les Paul Double Cut. In 1961, the body was changed to a Gibson SG body shape, concurrent with the Les Pauls' change in body shape. The EB-0 was a short scale bass, though a long scale variation was also made (the EB-0L). Gibson also made a variation with an internal fuzz tone (the EB-0F).
The EB-0 has a single humbucker which, combined with the all mahogany body and set neck, produced a very low, heavy tone.
This instrument did undergo several major changes during it's lifetime, using different woods, hardware and finishes.
